Frequently asked questions
Lien Resolution Questions from Law Firms
Answers to what firms ask before sending us a first file. If your question is not here, bring it to a discovery call.
- When in the case should lien resolution begin?
- Ideally at settlement, though earlier is better on files with significant treatment. Identifying lienholders and requesting itemized ledgers while the case is still in negotiation removes weeks from the back end. We also take files that have already stalled.
- Is LIENEXIA a law firm?
- No. LIENEXIA is a lien resolution services provider. We do not provide legal advice or legal representation, and every lien-resolution decision remains subject to the client law firm's review and approval.
- Which balances and liens do you handle?
- Medical provider balances, Letter of Protection balances, hospital and facility liens, Medicare conditional payments, and Medicaid and other government benefit liens. We also retrieve the medical records and itemized billing those balances are argued from. We will tell you plainly if a claim on your file falls outside what we handle.
- Do you retrieve medical records as well as resolve liens?
- Yes. We request medical records and itemized billing from treating providers and facilities, follow up with custodians until the productions arrive, review them for completeness, and deliver them organized by provider and date range. Records are the evidence a reduction argument is built from, so most firms send us retrieval and resolution together. We also take retrieval on its own. Requests are made under authorizations your firm executes with its client.
- Do we have to change our case management software?
- No. Your team sends the file through a secure intake and receives updates and a resolution package in a format that fits your existing workflow. The application our specialists work in is internal to LIENEXIA.
- How much can a balance be reduced?
- That depends entirely on the case, the provider or lienholder, the documentation, the available settlement funds, and the governing law. Reductions vary, and no specific reduction, savings amount, or completion date is guaranteed. We will give you an honest read on a file before you engage us.
- What happens if a lienholder will not reduce?
- You receive a documented record of the request, the dispute, and the authority relied upon, so your firm can make an informed decision about how to proceed. We tell you plainly when a claim is not going to move.
- Who approves the final resolution?
- Your firm. Nothing is finalized without your sign-off. You see the asserted amount, the proposed resolution, and the reasoning behind it before anything is treated as closed.
- Which states do you work in?
- We support plaintiff personal injury law firms throughout the United States. Lien law is state-specific, and resolution strategy is built around the statutes and authority governing your venue.
- How does LIENEXIA charge for this work?
- Fee structure is agreed in writing before any work begins, and we will walk your firm through it on a discovery call. There are no charges introduced at disbursement that your firm has not already agreed to.
